LOW SPEED MODEMS
There are many applications where nothing will do the job as reliably or economically as a low speed modem. The StarComm family of low speed modems ranges from products as generic as our 2400bps smart modem to specialty items such as the 2400EQ quick connect modem for the transaction processing industry.

All low speed models offer an AT compatible command interface and support the following modulation standards: V.22bis, V.22, V.21, Bell 212A and Bell 103J. Please note that all Low Speed Modems with the exception of the 2400E-000-2, are rated for industrial use.

202T Industrial Modems
For years, the Bell 202 modem has delivered reliable low speed multi-point communications. Today, this device still enjoys great popularity due to its ability to communicate under adverse conditions. The Bell 202 remains the right choice for telemetry applications, control systems, transaction applications and for reliable data delivery over RF or cellular connections.

The StarComm 202T offers a modern implementation of this classic modulation standard. In this design, we have utilized the latest semiconductor technology to guarantee a level of performance and reliability that cannot be matched. The following modems offer Bell 202S (2-wire) and 202T (4-wire) compatibility. Custom options are also available for dial operation, onboard protocol support, and PTT RF applications.

High-Speed Data/Fax Modems
Whether you are looking for commercial or industrial high speed modems, StarComm has a model to meet your requirements. Our High Speed modem designs are based around two of the most popular international standards for point-to-point full duplex modems. Whether you select our implementation of the V.34 standard, which defines operation at 33.6kbps or choose a model based on the V.32bis standard for 14.4kbps operation, you are guaranteed a high level of interoperability with modems from other vendors. You will also find that all of StarComm's high speed designs are totally capable of supporting the following older standards from 9600bps down to 300bps: V.32, V.22bis, V.22, V.23, V.21, Bell 212A and Bell 103J. Fax operation is supported under V.33, V.29 and V.27.

All models provide an AT compatible command interface and offer both synchronous and asynchronous DTE support as standard. On select models you will also find our unique remote configuration facility. When it comes to line interfaces, nobody delivers more flexibility: StarComm offers models for 2-wire dial circuits, 2 wire leased circuits and 4 wire leased circuits. As an added bonus, you will find that all models equipped with either our 2 or 4 wire leased line interface are also capable of driving 10 kilometers of unconditioned twisted pair, as a short haul modem. You will also find the same flexibility on the DTE interfaces of our High Speed Modems where certain models provide both RS-232 or RS-485.

Commercial V.32bis Models (14.4kbps)
All commercial models are capable of operation on 2-wire dial circuits, 2-wire leased circuits or short haul 2-wire copper. Stand alone commercial units are packaged in StarComm's standard plastic enclosure.

Industrial Cellular Modems V.32 bis
In North America, Analog Cellular (AMPS) has evolved into a ubiquitous network of providers covering even the most remote of locations. Therefore, it is no surprise that many remote meter reading and data collection operations, are adopting AMPS as a standard method for reaching those locations where telephone lines do not exist. StarComm's industrial cellular modems are capable of reliable operation on any North American AMPS cellular network, at rates of 9600bps or lower. Radio options are available for operation at either a 600mw or 3 watts. . In addition to normal modem functions, StarComm Cellular modems offer special quick connect sequences that may be enabled for transaction oriented applications operating at rates of 2400bps or less. These quick connect sequences dramatically decrease connect time, thereby reducing transaction time and the associated phone charges. Decreased transaction time also greatly increased overall network performance and efficiency. When operating in quick connect mode, StarComm cellular modems are still compatible with modems from other manufacturers and all applicable international standards.

LOW POWER STANDBY MODEMS
V.34 (33.6kbps) and V.32bis (14.4kbps)

In solar or battery powered installations where power consumption is critical, StarComm Low Power Standby Modems offer a low current standby state that is activated when there is no active phone call and no DTE activity. Standby current is approximately 5ma. Relay contact closure is also provided so that power to other equipment may be controlled by the modem. All models offer an AT compatible command interface and support the following modulation standards: V.34(3342 only), V.32bis, V.32, V.22bis, V.22, V.23, V.21, Bell 212A and Bell 103J.

MULTI-PORT SECURITY MODEMS
V.34 (33.6kbps)

Reduce phone line cost and increase security by replacing as many as eight incoming phone lines and eight standard modems with one StarComm Multi-Port Security Modem. In addition to all of the features of our single port security modems, each Multi-Port model offers multiple RS-232 ports for selective communications with numerous devices. Each model also provides relays for cycling power or resetting attached equipment. All models offer an AT compatible command interface and support the following modulation standards: V.34, V.32bis, V.32, V.22bis, V.22, V.23, V.21, Bell 212A and Bell 103J. Password protection, caller ID protection and audit trail capabilities with precision time keeping are standard features. In addition, all devices are capable of remote configuration, remote management and may be managed with StarComm's optional Device Management Software

Models providing 1 RS-232 port and 1 relay may be field upgraded to 2 ports and 2 relays.
