StarComm “Quick Connect” Transaction Modem Family

StarComm “Quick Connect” Transaction Modem

This modem is designed to provide a unique quick connect sequence which dramatically decreases the connect time required for transaction processing. Although the 2400 modem utilizes a unique connect sequence, it is compatible with standard V.22bis, V22, Bell 212A, and Bell 130J modems and is currently in operation with all major credit card terminals.

The unique StarComm Products “Quick Connect” Transaction modem family offers you an opportunity to lock in corporate accounts who are targeting the transaction processing community.  StarComm offers this product in both external and rack mountable versions and will soon be releasing this feature in our “ACCESS-X” cellular unit.

The StarComm “Quick Connect” product line is designed to meet the specific performance requirements of the transaction processing community.  Every time a credit card or debit card is swiped through a terminal for verification, the transaction is sent to an authorization center equipped with this type of equipment.  All over the world there are banks, network providers, data processing organization, restaurants and other POS businesses performing these transactions thousands of times each hour.  And, as you might expect the volume of this type of business is continually increasing.

In this application phone line connect time is the most important consideration to the network provider.  Because transaction time is minimal, the time to set up the call, modem “handshake” and negotiation time can be the longest part of the phone call.  Therefore, shorter “connect” time means lower phone bills per transaction, more transactions per hour, and fewer phone lines needed to perform these transactions.
