The DataComm 202T modem is a VLSI-based, high performance data set offering full or half duplex, 1200/1800 bps asynchronous operation over voice grade circuits. It is fully compatible with Bell 202T data sets, which means it fits perfectly into existing network schemes without disturbing network integrity. Since the unit also complies with the CCITT V.23 recommendation, it can satisfy a wide range of domestic and international private line applications.

DESCRIPTION

The DataComm 202T is a VLSI-based, high performance data set offering full or half duplex, 1200/1800 bps asynchronous operation over voice grade circuits. It is fully compatible with Bell 202T data sets, which means it fits perfectly into existing network schemes without disturbing network integrity. Since the unit also complies with the CCITT V.23 recommendation, it can satisfy a wide range of domestic and international private line applications.

In addition to special Bell 202T features, the DataComm 202T also offers all the advantages of GDC ISTM unique, high density packaging concept, DataCommonality. Up to 16 DataComm 202Ts can be easily rack-mounted in a standard 19-inch shelf, saving valuable computer room space. The same data set can also be installed in a standalone enclosure, reducing the number of spares you need to keep in inventory. All units are highly power efficient and easy to install and maintain.

SPECIAL BELL FEATURES

Designed as a Bell 202 modem compatible modem, the DataComm 202T modem incorporates the following special carrier detect and receiver control features:

• Carrier detected only in the 1000 to 2400 Hz band to ensure valid carrier

• Receiver squelch timing switch is selectable for 9 or 156 ms

• Optional soft transmit carrier turnoff eliminates problems of abrupt carrier turnoff and resulting           erroneous data

          • Optional quick receive carrier turnoff

• Carrier Detect (CD) ON prevents Clear To Send (CTS) ON

In addition, an optional 5 bps reverse channel is also available for primary channel supervision and circuit assurance.

EASY OPERATION

The DataComm 202T's front panel design makes it simple to

operate and maintain. Easy-to read status indicators and built-in pushbutton diagnostic controls enable immediate fault isolation and rapid system restoral. In larger networks requiring continuous surveillance from a central site, the DataComm 202T can be configured to work with GDC's NETCONO Network Management System products. And i keeping with our total system approach to communications, is also compatible with GDC's DeskTop 202 data sets.

RELIABLE DATA

The DataComm 202T employs a user selectable compromise equalizer to control the transmit line signal. This powerful, error control feature gives you Freater immunity to the line impairments normally present in unconditioned voice-grade communications. With the DataComm 202T, you can thu expect reliable data throughp in a cost effective, convenient package.
